概要
フィラデルフィアの下町。無名ボクサーのロッキーは本業だけでは食えず、借金の取りたてを請け負って日銭を稼いでいた。そんなある日、世界チャンピオンのアポロが気まぐれで無名選手にチャンスを与えようと言い出し、無作為に選んだロッキーを挑戦者に指名する。降って湧いたチャンスを得て、ロッキーは想いを寄せる女性エイドリアンに、15ラウンド最後まで戦いぬくことで自分の愛を証明すると約束する。
